You can pick a design that is well within the season or one that you feel like. It is even possible to have an overseas feel for the landscape.

It is even more appropriate to do the landscape makeover when your place always experience dry winter. Drought can be a pain. You have to think about the limited water supply. Gardening, thus, is not easy to do during that season. If you want a makeover, then better consider San Antonio xeriscape. The following are the principles to remember for that option.

First, be very careful when making the landscape design as well as the irrigation plan. The plans you create should be in accordance to the situation you are facing. You should be able to conserve water with the plans you have created for the garden. It should be long-lived as well as efficient in using water.

The soil must be improved. One of the ways for that is to add compost materials to the soil. Doing that can both retain soil moisture and improve drainage. Remember that these two are critical elements when you want to let drought-tolerant plants to survive and thrive in your newly made garden.

Know which are the best areas for the plants you are planning to add into your garden. There are plants that are supposed to be placed in certain areas and they are to be placed there for certain reasons. It does not matter what type of plants they are, they should be placed in the right places in the garden.

Instead of the thirsty plants, you should consider using more of the water thrifty plant variety. You have to pull this off well so that you can have the plant thrive in your garden even when you do not constantly give them water. The plant should be placed at the right spot in the garden so that you can let them thrive.

Do not just pour water on the plants. You have to water them effectively. If you do not mind the water you use everyday on watering the plants or even the driveway, you will not be able to realize just how much water you are wasting. You have to assess your water usage and make a plan on how to efficiently use it.

The soil moisture must be properly conserved. One of the best ways you can conserve soil moisture would be by the use of mulch. The mulch is actually very effective when it comes to reducing the water evaporation from the soil surface. It can help significantly reduce the weeds and even lower soil temperature too. Use organic mulches for this task.

Maintenance is another principle that you must remember. You must do the maintenance correctly since you are already investing a lot into this. If you do not want to waste the money you have invested in your garden, then you should maintain it. In the long run, the landscape will become water efficient as well.
