A Few Of The Benefits Colon Cleanse Provides

By Donald Cox

Detoxification of body systems should be done on a regular basis. The large gut is one of the organs that has to be cleansed regularly. This is either done through irrigation of the gut or by use of products that are either inserted through the rectal route or taken orally. These products can be easily obtained as over the counter drugs from pharmacies. They include herbal teas, magnesium, enzymes, enemas and so on. There are a number of benefits colon cleanse provides.

Colon irrigation is the more effective option. It is performed by professionals known as hygienists or hydro-therapists. A low pressure pump is used to flush the colon using several gallons of water. This is followed by abdominal massage to release the water. One session lasts for about an hour. Some of the contraindications include diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, severe hemorrhoids, rectal tumors and recent surgery among others.

One of the benefits of cleansing is the fact that the process of digestion is improved and the risk of constipation reduced. Persons that are constantly constipated tend to have poor digestion of food which in turn causes poor absorption of nutrients. Some of these nutrients play a vital role in energy generation and maintenance of immune function meaning that they will complain of low energy levels are constant infections.

There are a number of foods that contain toxins. These toxins have to be removed by the liver and the gust in the shortest time possible. Constipation and indigestion within the colon tend to increase the time taken for these toxins to be removed from the system by the liver and the gut. If this goes on for a long period of time, the risk of cancerous and precancerous conditions such as cysts, polyps and colon cancer.

Another important benefit is that of weight loss. Low fiber in foods contribute a great deal to constipation. The waste associated with these foods tends to stay longer within the large gut and getting rid of them is usually very difficult. Satiety feedback mechanisms are suppressed which means that one is more likely to eat more than they need to. Cleansing and increased the amount of fiber in the diet helps to jump start the process of weight loss.

When the health of your gut is compromised, there is a high probability that your mental health will be affected as well. The main reason for this is that the vital vitamins that are required for your staying alert may not be adequately absorbed. When you engage in regular detoxification, toxins and any mucous that may be hampering the process are removed.

Minerals and water are the main components of the diet that are absorbed though the colon. The two are useful in maintaining an optimal pH within the blood stream. When constipation sets in, their absorption is impaired which in turn affects the pH. A more acidic environment is the most likely outcome. Such an environment affects many cell processes and one will tend to have general body malaise most times.

You need to be aware of some risks of this procedure. They include nausea, vomiting, cramps, reduced amounts of normal flora and mineral imbalance among others. The risks have been shown to increase as the number of procedures increases. When done by a well-trained and licensed professional, their incidence is much lower.
