Enjoy A Meal At A French Restaurant Winnetka IL

By Martha Powell

If you are lucky enough to live in Illinois, especially in the Winnetka area, you likely have a lot of restaurant choices. You probably have eaten some really great food, including from a French Restaurant Winnetka IL. The food is a gorgeous to look at as it is delicious to eat, making a visit to this type of eatery worth every penny you might pay. One trip and you will likely want to go back again and again, for both special occasions and everyday eating.

When people get good news that is exciting or especially life changing, they usually want to celebrate it. While some people might pop some champagne or have a cake, others want to go all out. A French restaurant is a great place to mark that special occasion, whether it be a birthday, a marriage proposal, or finding out that you are expecting little one someday soon.

One of the hallmarks of many recipes from France is that there are lots of sauces. No matter what type of cooking you do, there are so called mother sauces, many of which originate in France. The trademark of these is dairy products, usually full fat cream and butter. These create rich, creamy concoctions that make you feel completely indulgent.

The foods that mark a country's culinary traditions are influenced by the food that can be gathered or grown there. Since part of France borders the ocean, it is no surprise then that seafood is a part of many dishes. It can be filleted and served with one of the aforementioned sauces, or it can be served whole for a presentation you will not soon forget. Either way, it will taste absolutely delightful.

Out of all the proteins you can cook at home for yourself, chicken is likely a popular one. The French agree, and that is why they have spent so much time mastering the perfect roast chicken. Order this seemingly simple dish to get a very complicated and delicious set of flavors.

Wine is another hallmark of this kind of meal, as many grapes are grown in the fertile soils of France. Most restaurants of this type have a large selection available either by the bottle or by the glass. In a few cases, they will let you bring your own, but you have to pay a corkage fee per bottle.

As delicious as the food is, you will have to remember to save a little room for dessert. The pastries are second to none, and will help put a sweet capper on your dinner or celebration to make it extra special.

Because so much food in this tradition takes quite awhile to cook properly, especially the sauces, many of these restaurants are only open for dinner. They may have a limited lunch service, and usually no breakfast service. However, you may be able to find one that serves brunch on Sundays. If you do, be sure to go, as you get to taste several dishes and you will likely get some famous crepes, which are a delight that everyone should experience at least once.
