Various Components Of Equine Inflammation Management Supplements

By Anthony Johnson

People domesticated horses for helping them in many things such as sports, work, transportation and warfare even during the older years. They have different markings, life stages, breeds, colors, locomotion, sizes and behavior with a vocabulary used specially for describing them. When born, young ones could immediately walk and their training starts when they reach two to four years of age.

Because of their many uses in various fields, they could develop illness or their body would become weaker specially in old age. That is why they need equine inflammation management supplements to help them keep their good condition longer. These nutraceuticals have different ingredients with varying amounts in them making their effective vary in each horse.

These ingredients have been studied for the past few years in knowing what their effects on horses really are. This will help you to understand which supplements could help your animals better as some of them do not contain what is written on the label. The following are various components these nutraceuticals commonly have in them.

Glucosamine has been intensively studied compared to other ingredients for a joint supplement and is considered as the building block basically for all connective tissues. Most products might extract them from cattle trachea and sternum which is its natural sources. Others get from sources like tendons, skins and ligaments a hydrolyzed collagen.

tGlucosamine is effective to relive pain and usually after a short time of ten days to fourteen and could encourage healing and would slow cartilage. Each day, a dosage of six thousand until ten thousand milligram is needed, with the latter amount suitable for working horses best. During the first or second week of treatment, higher level is recommended in giving them this substance for a therapeutic level.

Combining products works best when the recommended therapeutic dose are contained in them of every ingredient. Example of this are glucosamine and chondroitin which works better together than when taken separately. Vitamin C is essential for healthy joints although having much of it is harmful and copper and zinc are antioxidants that can help.

The structural component for cartilage, tough connective tissues and bone is chondroitin although its effects are not as obvious as glucosamine. Horses appear to more fluidly move though as reported by observers when this is taken by them. Formal studies regarding them have mixed results with its greatest benefit is preventing cartilage breakdown further.

Combining both glucosamine and chondroitin shows superior results though when compared to using them separately. Many supplements are combining them although they have lower the dosage of what is required when taken independently. These products claim that when you combine them, you could lower the dosage and still have the same effect even when there is no study that proves this.

Some of these products, although not all, that combines these ingredients actually work but no studies have shown the reasons why this happens. The best way is finding a supplement with full glucosamine dose and a closer to the correct one for chondroitin. There are other ingredients for these supplements but these two are the major ones unless they could discover other ones that can replace them.
