Things That Would Affect What To Use To Kill Weeds On Gardens

By Janine Hughes

Every time you plant your crops you wonder the best way to eliminate weeds on the farm. These unwanted plants should never be an issue because there are plenty of what to use to kill weeds on farms.

One of the cheaper and safe methods to use to kill a plant in the farm includes pulling the unwanted plants by hand. Though it is time consuming the advantage is that it is not a chemical that may affect you in the food chain. Another benefit is that you remove the herbs with the roots, so chance of it growing again is eliminated. You can also remove them as they develop so you do not have to wait they mature before you pull them off the garden.

The pulling off by hand of unwanted plants will only be efficient if the farm area is relatively small if you are to do it personally. But one can also employ people that would assist in the weeding. But if you still do not want to use chemicals there is the options of boiling water and pouring on the weeds. They will die and the seeds too.

Hot water burns crops and destroys the cells therefore it is important to be careful so that you do not ruin crops on farm. Water with soap is also another effective organic weed protection method; it works well during dry and hot days. Other techniques include spraying the plants using concentrated vinegar and alcohol. Again be careful with this approach because they aren't choosy they would kill both herbs and crops if you do not spray carefully.

Corn meal gluten is very efficient for very young or herbs that are yet to grow. It can also fix nitrogen from the soil and prevent the growth of the plants. The advantage of the corn meal gluten is that it does not kill grass. However, the people are disinterested in organic methods of farming and weed prevention. There is the option of chemicals such as Roundup and Ortho Weed-B-Gon would help to eliminate the unwanted plants. They kill very fast and prevent growth and development of the weeds for many months.

It is however important to note that killing these unwanted plants in the yard is very fine. But always ensure that the specific directions are followed. Always keep these herbicides away from the reach of pets and children.

The other ways of preventing growth and development of herbs is by mulching. Mulching is very useful because the plant would not grow in the first place because they won't get sufficient light to survive. There is the option of using home remains to do mulching like old newspapers, curtains carpets and dried grass. Just spread them on every footpath and you won't see weeds on your farm. When using the mulching method you will ever spend on destroying unwanted plants.

Finally, choosing which method to use in weeding depends solely on many factors such as the size of the farm. The type of the weed crop and what stage of development is it.
