They will stock everything you need to get started and will be happy to advise you on what you should be buying. Due to their many years of experience they will also be on hand with helpful tips and will answer any questions you may have.

Another option is to buy your supplies from an online brewing supply company and there a many of these now in business. They will have large stocks of kits, natural ingredients and equipment. Other items will also be available to you such as DVD's, books and additives to enhance your brews. A lot of the web sites will also feature recipe pages and have discussion boards allowing brewers to exchange their ideas and results with other site members.

Another idea for brewers new to the hobby is to join one of the many clubs that are available. These organizations will have lectures and discussions about brewing and you may also benefit from discounts from suppliers by being a member of the club. Many of the clubs will hold annual beer festivals where different brews can be sampled and purchased. It can also be useful to interact with other brewers and exchange ideas and recipes.

One essential thing to consider when fermenting at home is safety and good hygiene procedures. It is imperative that all equipment is kept clean and in good order otherwise it will affect your batch and ruin the product. If you decide to bottle your ales or ciders it is important to follow the instructions given due to the pressures that will be contained inside the bottles when they are filled.
