Effective Ways Of Growing Curcuma Plants

By Linda Hayes

Having a house plant is never made hard and unappealing knowing that there are several flowers which both grow easily and are so beautiful when they do. One of those would be the curcuma flower which are entirely elegant to look at especially during summer when they bloom fully. They basically are so in love with heat that they do bloom during such season. This tropical plant comes in several hues such as pink, white and purple and sometimes an amazing combination of all three. They sure are perfecta and would accentuate the gardens making it more stand out than it is.

In fact compared to other tropical plants, this one is pretty much amongst those which can be grown quite easy and less irritating. They love the sun and the warm weather as they grow and bloom during those times on the year. To ensure that one can still see them bloom during such time of the year, be sure to follow some tips on growing them.

It basically has the capability to be grown by its own but adding these with other floral plants could give a unique accent to it. When curcumas are exposed to cold weather long enough, they normally would not make it and when they die, they typically are not growing back on the ground unless they are planted back again.

When it dies, there is no way of having them grow once more without planting them back. To prevent this from happening again, try temporarily transferring them on a place where it is not exposed with the frost. That is the best way to prolong their life and longevity.

Anyway for first time growers of these flowers, first thing they may want to do is find a spot where it gets ample sun exposure. But make sure that it also has some shady parts to keep the plant moist during full sunny weather. Make sure to choose soil which does not dry out easily or if so, it would be best to keep them in partial shade.

To make the quality of soils be better than it is now, try adding some organic matters in it. It could be a compost or anything which is fairly accessible. For those sand and clay type of soil, be sure to add the organic matter right before the planting of the plant is done so that the quality of soil they stand on can be of great help for their growth.

Make sure to be watering curcumas as regularly as possible especially if the area has no means of getting exposed to natural rain. Fertilize these plants during spring as well as summer with general purpose fertilizers of any kind. Make sure to only place enough amount based on the recommendation seen on the fertilizer cover.

Have them regularly pruned during autumn. Most of the plants would fade during this time of the year so make a little effort to keep them looking fresh. This also is the easiest way to keep them clean.

There are several gardeners who prefers to deadhead the curcuma or remove those flowers which are faded. This could make the entire plant looking better but it actually is not necessary or a requirement. The other blooming flower would not be affected even if some of which are faded.
