Step By Step Procedure For Tarmac Driveway Restoration In San Antonio Hardscape

By Jennifer Sanders

Private pathways are the responsibility of the property owners who are forced to hire contractors after some months or years to repair it. However, maintenance of these driveways is simple and does not require much capital for a homeowner to have them in great conditions. With some lbs of tarmac and a few wheelbarrows of sand, portholes or alligator cracks will be fixed. Here are steps to take when conducting tarmac driveway renovation in San Antonio hardscape.

The driveways have to be prepared before conducting any repairs. Thoroughly clean the affected area by removing debris, dust, growing vegetation, water and anything else that might prevent new materials from getting fixed. Both potholes and alligator asphalt should be clear of all the substances mentioned above if you want the new material to adhere to the existing tarmac.

For a complete clearance of the dust, brooms will be needed. However, the soft brushes will not auger well with surfaces due to their hard and rough texture. Therefore, go to hardware and ask for brooms with hard bristles. Such bristles withstand friction, rough nature and can cover a large surface area before they are replaced. Moreover, they can be afforded by anyone because they are cheap.

The brooms might succeed in removing debris or large particles but cannot clear away sticky dust. As such, pressurized water must be applied for these substances to be removed. However, using a lot of water both in hot days will affect moisture penetration. Do it on hot days to minimize the amount of water that will be penetrating to the road through the cracks. A normal pressure washer that you use at home can serve this purpose.

Allowing vegetation to grown on your driveways is enhancing its deterioration. Therefore, use a gardening hoe. The sharp edges will be useful in eradicating the plants or weeds that are growing on the cracks. The devices are cheaply obtained from the local stores and can be used for other functions at home like gardening. Moreover, they are light and require less energy when using them.

Big cracks and potholes cannot be rectified without the availability of tar. This substance is effective in attaching the new gravel to the existing layers. Purchase them from the stores at the given rates. The number and size of potholes will determine the required quantity. In addition, purchase some few wheelbarrows of gravel which will be effective in mixing with the tar.

The repair exercise is not difficult as long as you can follow the instructions. Put on your gumboots and gloves. Take a wheelbarrow and put some tar and sand. Mix it gently using a shovel until it becomes evenly distributed. Once you are satisfied that the mixture is good, take and fill in it in potholes that are below four inches. Holes that are more than these inches ought to be filled with sand first.

Contrary to what many believe, you do not need to engage a contractor for simple pothole repair on your driveway. The above tasks can be done on your free time ensuring that the driveways remain in attractive conditions for many years. Moreover, by removing debris, weeds, and improving the drainage, your road will serve you for decades.
