Biomedicines In Researching, Treatment And Curing Disease

By Nancy Miller

Modifications to the health care system have taken place over the last several decades. Currently, biomedicines are at the forefront when it comes to curing and treating a number of diseases and illnesses. For, biomedicine is an aspect of medical science which relates to the biological and physiological characteristics of the human body.

While only recently becoming popular, the science has been an integral part of the health system for over a century. For, the practice can relate to a number of different biological and health fields. While this is the case, the practice generally refers to physiology and biology.

Most often, biomedicine is used in areas including biochemistry, cell biology, embryology nano-bio-technology, biological laboratory engineering, toxicology, medical biology, anatomy, cryogenics, virology, genetics, physiology, gene therapy, biostatistics, bioinformatics, systems biology, microbiology, systems biology and neuroscience. For, all these areas are related to the study and treatment of disease at the molecular or cellular level.

Biology in the medical field has long been a cornerstone of the health care system. For, laboratory tests, a number of medications, even in-vitro fertilization would not exist if not for molecular biology. As such, without biomedicine, a number of people would not exist, just one reason the ongoing research and study in this area is so important.

Cancer is another area in which biomedicine has contributed to various treatment options such as gene therapy. For, without the numerous research programs and studies related to the terminal illness, a number of medications and treatments would not exist. For, science and medicine are based on molecular biology.

Depending on the disease and severity, biomedicine can pinpoint problems within an individual, then treat the issue with various treatment options. For, medical biomedicine focuses on curing disease rather than improving health. In fact, test subjects have been known to be cured of a disease in different research studies and trials associated with this branch of medicine.

The field also involves the study of various pathogens in the physiological process, using methods and techniques from both physiology and biology. In the process, researchers, scientists and health care providers hope to gain a better understanding of molecular interactions and consequences to various treatment options. After which, health care providers may very well be able to cure a disease or illness rather than only calm symptoms.

The biomedical field is different when it comes to the field of psychiatry, psychology and psychotherapy. For, while the practice can be used in these areas when involving medication, routines are very different from standard medical practice and research studies. At the same time, when looking through the lens of anthropology, biomedicine does have the ability to extend well beyond the areas of scientific fact.

Biomedicine looks at biology during synthesis and has the ability to regulate RNA, DNA and protein cells in the human body. Whereas, as the practice is essential to polymerase chain reaction, gel electrophoresis, macromolecule blotting and the manipulation of DNA. As such, biomedicine remains an active and important aspect of the overall health care system.
