Common Causes Of Bulging Veins

By Jason Nelson

Prominent veins that start appearing on the upper and lower extremities are something one should not have to worry about. That is, unless the person starts experiencing pain and other side effects. Depending on environmental and genetic elements, there are several factors that can cause these instances. Before seeking treatment, here are some of the common causes of bulging veins Gary IN.

The first thing we need to consider is the amount of body fat. People who are generally lean and have low body mass index tend to have prominent veins only because of lack of fat inside their bodies. Additionally, if they perform intense exercises these can also make its appearance much more noticeable since their blood pressure is steadily increasing. When this happens, these veins are pushed closer to the surface of your skin making it much more prominent than usual.

Another is that prominent vessels can be a byproduct of an intense exercise regimen. For people who have low body weight, veins are most likely obvious because there is a lack of fat around certain extremities. When people work out, their blood pressures steadily increase, causing certain vessels to work harder than normal. During this process, these features are also pushed against the surface of the skin, making it obvious and very prominent.

If you are relatively young but have weakening valves, then this may be a sign of varicose veins. In this condition, prominent vessels are more obvious on the legs than the hands and are mainly due to the fact that such valves are unable to prevent backflow. When not taken cared of properly, the appearance of these vessels can enlarge and eventually cause painful sensations.

Aside from a sedentary lifestyle, valve issues may also be another cause of why your vessels bulge out. Throughout the body, certain flaps called valves are responsible for preventing backflow. When weakened by ageing or unhealthy lifestyle habits, blood starts pooling in certain vessels longer than usual enabling it to look large. While harmless at first, this condition can lead to painful sensations which require immediate medical treatment.

Another habit that can put people at risk for circulatory issues is smoking. Aside from affecting your heart and lungs, certain components found in nicotine can also do more damage to certain vessels. One is that is can make a person susceptible to clots, which if formed, can inhibit proper flowing of blood and can lead to extreme pain which will require immediate medical assistance.

Another habit that affects the appearance of blood vessels is smoking. Several cigarettes contain nicotine which is a component that affects overall circulatory health. People who smoke several times a day are at risk for developing venal conditions as well as incurring other health risks like clots, atherosclerosis, and coronary artery disease.

With these causes in mind, one can easily deduce that there are several factors that can affect overall venal health and appearance. However, in order to get the best treatment possible, doctors will need to conduct a thorough assessment to rule out certain factors that may not play a role in your health. Additionally, persons may be asked to wear supporting clothing to help soothe pain like compression stockings.

One such example of venal treatment is sclerotherapy. This is a noninvasive treatment where doctors will inject a foamy substance into the veins of said person which results in them becoming thinner and less swollen over time. Depending on the severity, this type of treatment may require more than one session so the scars and veins will close and fade away easily.
