What Items Are Added To Halal Rations

Halal meals refer to food such as meat and poultry that has been slaughtered by butchers that are trained in accordance with Islamic specifications. It also refers to processed foods like yogurts, breads and treats that do not contain any forbidden ingredients such as coloring and alcohol. In previous years many producers did not have the experience and knowledge to produce high quality halal rations in the form of variety meals, but times have changed.

There are pre cooked meals that are being prepared for multiple uses. These are distributed at schools, refugee camps, shelters and in the army corps, and can be bought for camping and holiday purposes. Many Muslim followers make use of these meals when traveling by air. The packs that can be heated and immediately eaten can stay fresh for about twenty four months and others have expiry dates of up to five years.

The most convenient main meals are pasta that is also served with vegetables, chicken and pasta sauces. Fruits and nuts, oats and fruit bars, chocolate bars, jelly sweets and mints make up snacks. There are fruit powdered drinks and hot chocolate powders too. In addition to all of these are teabags, sugar packets, coffee sachets and chewing gum.

The main meals are packaged separately in durable pouches that can be heated in boiled water or in microwaves. One can also cut them open and heat the contents over a stove of fire. Packages of high quality will also include disposable eating utensils like spoons and a pair of napkins. These higher quality packages weigh up to three pounds each.

The food parcels are prepared by keeping nutritional value of the meals in mind. They are also made with care and is generally cost effective. The amount of calories that should be consumed is taken into account. Items that are added balance out fat, sugar and fiber intakes. Main meals are not only pasta, but may include cooked rice, gravy, steaks and other beef slices, vegetables and gravy and Asian style noodles. High protein porridge are labeled as breakfast.

This has eliminated waste of smaller produce and is coming in extremely handy during the current day humanitarian aid initiatives worldwide. These were produced knowing that kitchen utensils and stoves may not be available to the recipients and were thus adapted accordingly.

It is estimated that the current need for halal food rations is seventy percent. These packs will be clearly marked with stamps of certification and ingredients will be listed.
