This would make them analyze information first before jumping into conclusion. When there is such kind of program running, is a clear indication of a caring organization.

Circulating rumor and other negative information about this organization or a person are unethical. Anyone can manipulate information that has no base. This can either be to destroy an organization or for selfish reasons. However, when good and effective measures are taken, there will think less of such instances as the people will have the truth with them thus there would be no need of spreading the rumors. It is a good way to encourage teamwork.

It is important that the organization identify those that use informal communication negatively and give them the true and right information. When they do that, the chain will be broken. This also encourages the firms to be open with their staff to avoid such negativity. Using a formal channel to communicate and counter the negative information is a start in tackling rumors. They should always be an official communication to the staff.

The disadvantage of this kind of information is that it may be baseless and sometimes cause harm to the employees. Due to incompleteness, the information is usually ambiguous making people confused. The data may be damaging the image of the organization before even the management becomes aware of it.
