Hell's Kitchen And The Las Vegas Steakhouse

By Eric Thomas

Hell's Kitchen is one of the most popular cooking shows on network television. In fact, now in the 18th season, the show is popular all over the world. The current season appears to be one of the most challenging as the contestants have yet to prove anyone competent enough to become an Executive Chef at a Las Vegas Steakhouse.

While Hell's Kitchen has been popular since the first episode, the show has gone through changes over the years. For, while some winners have fallen short and have since been fired, others have become extremely successful. In each case, the winners went home with prize money and a title as being the next executive chef at a restaurant owned and operated by Gordon Ramsey.

Other Gordon Ramsey based shows like the recent 24 Hours to Hell And Back, Kitchen Nightmares and Master Chef all air on network television. While all shows have a unique and distinct personality, viewers of one show featuring Gordon Ramsey often watch other shows in which the chef is involved. Whereas, shows with contestants such as Hell's Kitchen and Master Chef often portray a more ruthless side of the chef than others.

When working with children on shows such as Master Chef Junior, viewers see a much softer side of the chef. Whereas, when it comes to providing constructive criticism, the chef tends to do so in a more caring and loving manner than on the more adult oriented shows. In addition, as there are multiple judges on Master Chef Junior, the contestants often hear a variety of opinions rather than just that of Chef Ramsey.

There are a number of other shows which feature cooking competitions. These include Iron Chef and shows produced by Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay, Rachel Ray and others. While this is the case, Master Chef and Hell's Kitchen still remain two of the most popular of all the top rated cooking shows. Whether this is due to airing on network television or the edgy and often irate Chef Ramsey, viewers appear to love these shows.

Out of the cable and satellite shows, Iron Chef and Iron Chef Junior tend to be the most popular. Whereas, shows produced and ran by Guy Fieri and Bobby Flay are most likely the next most watched shows on food oriented television. For, the contests and shows by these two amazing chefs are often more laid back than that of Hell's Kitchen or Iron Chef.

For individuals planning on opening a restaurant, operating a food truck or becoming involved in promoting shows on food oriented television, there are contests in these and other categories. As a result, individuals can often obtain financial assistance in the way of a monetary prize when one has the capability and talent to win a cooking competition. For, the prize money or title can often help individuals get started in a number of different areas of the food service industry.

While most of these contests send representatives to tour the country and audition future contestants, some require individuals to travel and audition at a specific location. Whereas, some require that individuals bring food to prepare on-site while others require that food be prepared and brought to the audition. As such, it is important to note which is the case when filling out an initial application, or when reviewing an acceptance letter to appear at an audition.
