Beer enthusiasts knows that not all beer has the same taste and there always is a difference. Whether be it on the alcohol level which tends to hit a person way faster or can be based on the bitterness on its taste, it sure would not be of the same taste at all. The perfect combination to make the best beverage out of it would definitely always be based on grains used. If their quality is good enough then it normally would show on the finish product. Aside from that choosing the most suitable brewery grain mill may also be of help big time.
Of course, people who are planning to brew their own recipe of beer should also understand that it needs to go through an appropriate step by step procedure. Missing one of the essential step could blew it all off or can make it taste funny in the end. To give them ideas on what they should do to come up with the best taste to quench their thirst, here are some of the things they have to do.
The very first part would always be choosing the grains they would like to use on the process and once they have it at hand, straight they go for a milling. Milling is the process where they get to crush every single grains into pieces all at once right until the grist is extracted. This is the liquid they get out of those broken grain kernels that were formed into a fermentable sugar.
After the milling, there goes straight the conversion of mash which is done when the grist is transferred to a mash tun. It heats the grist on a certain level along with a heated water. The entire process is involving a natural enzymes found in malt to be broken down into sugar.
Another tool they have to use for certain procedure is lauter tun. All mash mixtures are pumped into this until it secretes the sweet fluid needed to make the beer. But since its not the exact beer just yet, they call it wort.
These liquid named wort will all be collected and placed in one vessel named kettle. And while they are on that container, they will usually be boiled for quite some time. Though they have to be careful because the heating on this step needs to be a little controlled especially once the hops are added.
Once the boiling is done, everything will apparently be transferred to a whirlpool for the separation. Those malt and hop in the mixture will be removed so that there will be no more particles floating over. And once the liquid is all set, it will then be prepared for the fermentation.
For the fermentation, there usually is a yeast added prior to the filling of vessel. It is necessary because the yeast will be converting the sugary wort into a beer. This apparently is done by having the alcohol kick in and adding certain flavors that would make the beer taste right. By the later part of fermentation, carbon dioxide will be added as well to provide the beer its sparkle.
After that, all that is left to do is maturation and cellaring. This is where all the flavors gets its enough time to develop before they get packaged. It may take more than four weeks depends on the time needed to be allotted to make it taste good. Once this particular part is done, all is ready to be packaged and basically consumed if necessary.
