Choice Of Dark Self Tanning Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

Light skinned people may use artificial sunscreen to limit the amount of ultraviolet light reaching their skin. A dark skin tone could also be developed by sticking to a diet rich in some forms of carotenoids found in vegetables. Rather than use Dark Self Tanning Lotion, one could achieve altered skin color by intake of selected foods.

This could be attributed to the deep seated action of pigment elements introduced through ingestion. One must avoid excessive darkening as it could cut down the natural vitamin D synthesis process by up to 95%. As with most nutrient intakes, excessive consumption could lead to a condition known as carotenaemia if there is a lot of yellow pigment in blood.

Some tanning pills may contain beta carotene, a compound whose usage is not fully approved by some consumer protection bodies. Yet another tanning agent, canthaxanthin, has been discouraged from use in these pills though it is cleared for use in small amounts as food color additives. It has the potential to destroy the digestive system and cause yellow deposits in the eye retina.

One of the safest active ingredients in these cosmetic products is DHA. The compound is applied on the skin where it triggers a chemical reaction with amino acids deposited on the dead layer, resulting in a darker tone. The lotions do not contain any dyeing agents or pigments, so the color will naturally fade away in less than ten days.

Some commercial tanning products will carry a characteristic fragrance in addition to the active compounds. All asthmatic people should select cosmetic products that do not have fragrances that would trigger attacks. The endocrine system is also susceptible to damage from preservative agents such as paraben.

It is also possible to wear a beautiful tan for a as short as a one day period. The market is awash with many gels, lotions, sprays and emulsions which can be washed off as one takes a shower. Nevertheless, one carries the risk of creating unsightly stains on his clothes if he wears the cosmetics. It is recommended that their application be done by qualified beauticians to avoid a splotched appearance when the sun gets hot.

One risk that sunless tanners expose users to is exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays due to lack of an active sunscreen. Thus one may appear dark but the level of melanin in his dermis is not adequate for protection. With better scrutiny of the information labels attached to the products, one may identify a Dark Self Taning Lotion with sunscreen.
