Different Kinds Of Cheap Tanning Lotions

By Haywood Hunter

Whether you're going away for a sunny vacation, spend a lot of time in the salon or prefer self-tanning products, you know that making sure you are adequately protected from damaging radiation can be very expensive. Fortunately, there are places where you can find name brand, high-quality cheap tanning lotions.

Suntan enthusiasts may not be aware that there are different cheap tanning lotions out there for different usage scenarios. For instance, products for working on a suntan naturally are different from those used in salons or without exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Products for outdoor use are rated using what is called a sun protection factor (SPF). The greater the SPF factor, the longer the user can remain in the sun without causing damage to their skin. Not everybody wants protection from UV rays. For them, there are cheap tanning lotions that actively focus the rays of the sun onto the skin's surface to facilitate development of a suntan.

Parents should always ensure that small children and babies are protected by high-SPF cheap tanning lotions when playing in the sun. Anybody with freckles or pale skin is also susceptible to damage from UV rays and should also wear a product with a high SPF rating. Skin cancer is becoming more common, so everyone should consider using even low-SPF cheap tanning lotions for some of the time when they are out in the sun or at a suntan salon.

Some people prefer to work on their suntan indoors on a special bed or in a booth at a salon. They need to use special cheap tanning lotions that are formulated for this purpose. These contain mainly melanin, which is a dark pigment that the ski produces naturally to prevent the oversynthesis of Vitamin D in response to sunlight.

Cheap tanning lotions that are formulated for indoor use do not contain sunscreen. Consequently, they are not suitable for use in natural sunlight. Another way they promote tanning is by increasing the rate of blood flow to the skin's surface.

Indoor suntan products frequently contain things like melani and an amino acid called L-tyrosine. These cheap tanning lotions also sometimes contain tea oil, copper or green tea extract. The beds used in suntan salons have a protective coating containing 100% acrylics. Mineral oils, like baby oil or other types of oil found in outdoor products, may damage the acrylic surfaces. This is why they should not be used for indoor purposes.

The application of cheap tanning lotions to the skin to create an effect similar to a sun tan is a way of obtaining the desired appearance without exposure to harmful UV rays from the sun or from UV booths or beds. This has become especially popular in the wake of reports linking the incidence of skin cancer to UV exposure. Many of these products use carotenoids, chemicals that occur naturally in fruits and vegetables.

Lycopene is a carotenoid that is safe at high chronic doses and may offer a protect effect against some kinds of cancer. Other carotenoids may not be so safe. All products are available in the form of cheap tanning lotions. The foregoing has been written for the purposes of information only and should not be construed as medical advice.
