It is normal for people to have some tree plants in their backyard. There are many variety for this tree plants that people will want to have in their backyard. One of them is the paulownia elongata. This is the species of tree species belonging to the Paulowniaceae family. This is a native species of tree found in Asia.

Like with any other species of trees, it has a distinct feature with it. Its leaves are considerably large and pubescent. It can also easily withstand various environmental conditions, whether it is hot or cold. However, the person should not expect this species of tree to grow in higher altitudes even if it can withstand any environmental conditions known to man.

If the person has taken an interest in planting this tree species, then it is for the best to learn of its scientific classification. The kingdom to which it belongs is plantae, just like any plant species. It belongs to angiosperms, eudicots, and asterids too. It belongs to the order of Lamiales and family of Paulowniaceae.

The said tree is very well-known because of its many uses. One of the most popular uses for this tree is in its purpose as ornamental trees. Since it can be used as ornamental tree, then it should be useful in gardens or parks. It can help beautify the said place because of its shade tolerance and pretty purple flowers.

Another use for this tree species is for biofuel. As soon as this tree species that one has planted grows properly, it can serve as a feedstock for the biofuel production. It has been proven to produce a large quantity of biomass on a yearly basis. This is basically why this tree species has been chosen to be used for biofuel feedstock.

This is not limited to biofuel and cultivation too. A lot of people plant this species of tree to solve their problems for lumber. They plant this as forestry trees these days. It can be used as lumber because of its strong yet light wood. Nowadays, there are lots of countries cultivating this species of tree. Special mention would be China and North America.

Those countries which cultivate this species of tree as lumber will surely establish lots of plantations to serve their purpose. Of course, the popular commercial plantations will usually establish themselves using selected clones. The said clones that these commercial plantations use often resulted from micropropagation.

This species of tree can actually grow tall at a fast speed. During its first year, it can grow to a height of 15 feet or more. This is approximately four and a half meters. Thus, this is considered to be the fastest growing species of hardwood tree. It will reach its harvestable size after a period of five to seven years.

The paulownia elongata is really one of the most useful hardwood tree species available in the nature nowadays. Whether it is cultivated or left alone, there will be people who should be able to make good use out of it. It is up to the person to determine what use will this tree species will be for them.
