There are many people within Manhattan who truly believe in ghosts and demons. Each of these individuals really think that there is a haunted New York which is really interesting. For years tenants at places such as The Morris-Jumel Mansion, The Dakota, The Campbell Apartment, The House of Death, 12 Gay Street, St. Mark's Church In-The-Bowery, The Merchant House and The Manhattan Well have been frightened by spirits.
Individuals are never prepared for what they will experience at The Morris-Jumel Mansion. Sometimes everyone will go in with a closed mind since many people do not believe in spirits. They quickly change their opinion once they meet the ghostly figure of a teacher who once resided in this place. She really does not like noise and will discipline any obedient individual. Along with this old spinster people will have the chance to hear a talking clock which hangs on the wall. Also, many of the historic pictures come to life without warning.
In order to receive an even bigger thrill many vacationers like to visit The Dakota. This old place became well known for its odd look decades ago. A director named Roman Polanski decided to film his movie "Rosemary's Baby" in this horrid place. Years after the movie was made individuals state that they can see and hear a small girl running through the hallways. This apparition is not scary at all since she smiles at people. The great musician John Lennon was killed at this location in 1980 and he is also still around.
Any person traveling down 57th street may want to check out the huge building in this location. Many years ago a man from France named Brazelle murdered an American cyclist named Albert Champion who resided at this place. Some time later Brazelle went on to murder Champion's ex-wife.
His own death came swiftly after killing this lovely and silly woman. His ghost is still angry and walks around the huge penthouse after the sun has set. His dearly departed wife can also be seen and heard at certain times of the day. The two of them are still together in unholy matrimony.
Many individuals are really frightened whenever they hear about The House of Death. Mark Twain once called this place his home years ago. Mr. Twain knew that there was a strange evil within this building but it did not stop him from staying. He was able to write some of his best work while living within this residence. He encountered a total of twenty-two spirits during his time at The House of Death. Twain truly loved this location and decided to stay here after death.
All of these places had some form of tragedy happen at them and they are quite scary to visit. Some people are not bothered by the strange noises that happen within these old buildings. During Halloween many of the residents will host parties which are centered around these ghostly events.
Edgar Allen Poe is still living at Furman Hall which is located at New York University. Mr. Poe's spirit is seen by many of the faculty and students who come to this campus every day.
