Are Breastfeeding Toddlers Too Old?

By Shun Smith

Breastfeeding toddlers might be fun and sometimes not too fun when it comes to breastfeeding.

It's completely normal to breastfeed your toddler, just in case you were wondering. You'd be amazed to know the number of moms which can be still breastfeeding toddlers.

A lot!

Although in Western society, it's not necessarily accepted as the norm.

The breast has become sexualized so much to the point where if people see you nursing your toddler, they are disgusted.

That's the reason why you don't see as many moms breastfeeding toddlers in public. Which is a shame.

A few of the fun parts of have breastfeeding toddlers are:

* Seeing how happy they're when they get to nurse. There is obviously something else going on here besides just getting nutrition. There exists some type of bonding that's happening and today your toddler can express his gratitude a lot better than he could as being a baby.

Sometimes when my breastfeeding toddlers (I've had 3) asks to nurse (he states "I wanna nur nur"), when I say okay and begin preparing myself to pick out them up to nurse, they start jumping around in circles dancing and singing to exhibit how happy they're!

* Watching them twist and turn their body in different positions to experience while still nursing. Although this can be irritating when you just want them to nurse and be done. The fun part is seeing them try and reach something or play or turn their head to look at something or watch T.V., all while still holding the nipple within their mouth. Can they reach it? It form of turns into a game! Breastfeeding Toddlers Need You!

Work from home with Them a Little Longer

* Holding a conversation with them while nursing. You are able to already barely understand your son or daughter as it is, but they don't care, they'll still hold a conversation with you with the nipple inside their mouth. "Say one". "Hello". It's so funny!

* You'll be able to tell them to wait to nurse if you're not ready. Your child is willing to wait until you will get done doing what you're doing, especially if you distract him with something different.

* They say they're done nursing. Sometimes when my son is conducted nursing he'll say "done" or "nah" and then pulls my shirt into cover my breast.

* Being able to easily comfort them when they're afraid, fall down, or hurt themselves. Of course a hug is going to do, but a breastfeeding toddler contains the ultimate comfort whenever a mom breastfeeds him through these times.

You're comforting him in a manner that only you can, something they've become accustomed to and familiar with since the beginning. Not to mention being able to still nourish him when he's sick and doesn't want other things to eat.

* When they become picky while using breast. It's funny when I offer my son one breast to nurse on and he insist on taking the other one instead. What's delicious about the other one when this occurs in time, I have no idea! And of course there are times when you wished your youngster just didn't want to nurse with this particular time.

Fundamental essentials not so fun times when breastfeeding toddlers:

* When they get aggressive when you say no, not right this moment. Especially when you're in public. Sometimes breastfeeding toddlers will just come and pull your breast out, then when you say you don't desire to nurse right now, they're able to get very aggressive to the point of hitting you and falling out crying.

If you don't need to nurse your toddler in public, you have to know their reactions and discover how to deal with them in your house before you go out, that way you'll convey more control over the situation when you're away from home.

* Sometimes having to reteach the basics of latching on. Fundamental essentials times when they latch on and you're feeling something sharp on your breast, which actually is their teeth.

This also happened only because they're a pro at breastfeeding now, in order that they don't need to open their mouth wide anymore to acquire the whole thing in, which hurts you! This is when you have to tell them to permit go and open their mouth wide this time.

* The looks and comments you will get from strangers and probably relatives (including spouse). In the event you thought you received negative looks and comments once you were breastfeeding your baby, try breastfeeding your infant in front of everyone. You won't hear get rid of it from your relatives!

One of my cousins nursed her daughter until she was 4 . Even today, everyone in the family still calls her "titty baby", and she's 13 yrs . old!

And if your spouse seems like your toddler is "too old" to become still nursing, you're going to get "dirty" looks in your own home.

Once i started weaning my first son as he was two years old, my hubby was right there to make sure it happened. Cleaning it once a to explain to him it had become a gradual process, while he wanted the child to stop nursing the moment he turned two!

They got on our son so much about nursing that we just started secretly nursing him while he wasn't around.

I know, horrible. But that was the only way I could take action without hearing his mouth about it.

As you can see, Breastfeeding Toddlers aren't So Sad.

They have their moments just like everyone else, and can be fun and entertaining in more ways than As you can tell, breastfeeding toddlers one.

So if you have any doubts about breastfeeding toddlers, give it a shot! You might have more fun than you imagined!
