How To Throw A Successful Family Reunion

By Richardo Manning

Planning any party should be based on a plan and consider how many people, food, theme, and activities. These basic considerations can sometimes get overlooked. Preparing ahead of time can make all the difference between a great party and a weak one. Making a schedule and planning out the details should be the first step towards planning your party. Here are some quick tips that will help you get started:

Block parties bring the people of the neighborhood together, which is a good idea for many reasons. First, you get to know other people and make new friends. You may have a lot in common with them, but you will never know until you make the initiative under appropriate circumstances.

* Food: Plan on how much food or dessert you will need. Find out what you would then like to provide and plan accordingly. A birthday party may include: cake, ice cream, utensils, drinks, etc... By preparing food ahead of time and shopping you can save money and have a great party.

When you are trying to make a family reunion memorable, you need to make sure that you are choosing the right location. Think about what your family is like. Do they like to be outdoors or are they more into indoor parties? You may find that based on the venue you choose, there can be a number of issues that pop up. When you are thinking about the location, it isn't just about the people, it is about the food preparation. You need to be able to get food to the masses and you also need to be able to cook it or prepare it the right way.

Another crucial element is entertainment for younger children. They have to be in attendance if they want to make friends on the street and their attention span is not going to be held by just food. They want to be doing something fun at all times. There are many different options, of course determined by the time of year. You could have a snowman making competition, or a snowball fight in the winter if you live somewhere like Utah. In the summer it could be a pool party, or a water gun fight.

Now that you have an idea from the tips on how to plan your party it is time to put the tips to good use. There are many options to choose from on what to do for a party. Keep in mind the budget you want to maintain. The average birthday party is between $200 to $300 which maybe affordable to some and unrealistic for others. If there is a bigger budget some may want to rent out some bowling lanes and then have pizza and food for everyone. Others may want to go to a water park and then have a place set up for the food afterwards.

On the other hand the party can be quite simple by including some games, using a free venue like a public park and just have cake and ice cream. Or you can serve a light lunch or appetizers and make it a short party. Or the party could have a theme and all of the guests dress up or participate in games or activities centered on the idea. Depending on what you decide to do is also based on how many people you invite and who confirms that they are coming. Make sure you send out invitations so you get the estimated attendance so you can plan ahead.
