Easy Baby Wipes Solution For Better Health

By Essie Osborn

When the little bundle of joy arrives, mothers and fathers scramble to get all his or her necessities. Diapers, clothes, furniture, and wipes are a priority. However, parents who really care about health and want their child to be far from as many chemicals as possible might want to opt for a homemade baby wipes solution.

The problem with commercial wipes, aside from them being expensive, is that they are made with unknown chemicals. Everyone knows that babies have sensitive skin, often negatively impact by man-made ingredients. The result can be continuous rashes, as well as pain and discomfort. Therefore, they are best left alone.

There is no reason to subject a child to harmful chemicals when they can be completely avoided. In addition to the health reasons, these homemade wipes can save parents a bundle. Besides being used for soiled bottoms, they are also a safe and effective method for cleaning messy faces and sticky hands. They can also be made to measure, adding a preferable scent.

Parents can also choose to make them with either disposable paper towels or from soft, dye-free, cloth rags. The latter will of course have to be washed after each use, so they aren't as convenient as the former. Moreover, the former can be cut to size, perfect for smaller messes.

Typically, all of these homemade wipes are made with similar ingredients which include soap, essential oils, and water. Many are made with tea bags as well. The essential oils provide a double beneficial effect, going beyond adding aroma, to add antibacterial purpose to the mix. Once all the ingredients are combined, simply cover and gently shake the bottle. Once properly mixed, pour into a storage container.

The storage container that will simplify the process and be similar to the convenience of a commercial product is to recycle a baby wipe container. However, it is vital not to prepare too much of this solution, as it does not have the preservatives found in commercial products. As such, it will not keep as long, and can be subjected to mildew growth.

Therefore, avoid preparing large batches, and stick with smaller batches that can last a week or two. Some ideas for exceptional ingredients include chamomile, almond or lavender oil, aloe vera gel, and baby wash or lotion. There is no end to the ingredients that can be used to create these custom-made solutions, as it's all about personal taste.

For inflamed skin, caused by a rash, choose ingredients that would treat this skin problem, such as chamomile. It will help to soothe and calm a baby's bottom. Keep in mind at all times that rashes cause more than just discomfort and are downright painful when they are in contact with harsh chemicals, and especially alcohol.

Moreover, when choosing paper towels, opt for softer ones, as these will be more pleasant for the infant. When adapting a healthier lifestyle, it's important to look at all the products that are used. While everyone likes convenience, homemade products can be just as good and convenient, without a risk involved. When it comes to baby's health, with their immune system so underdeveloped, being careful is the right way to go.
