Barbeque Catering Tips And Tricks

By Danielle Galloway

During the summer barbeque catering is usually something you can smell in the air. But although many people know exactly how to go about cooking on the grill, some are clueless. Therefore, one of the most important thing to do is decide if you want to do the thing yourself, or if you would prefer an outside caterer to come in and cook all you food.

It's worth thinking for a moment about how many people are actually going to attend the get together. If there are a few people then perhaps taking the time to do things for yourself is justified. However, if there will be a hundred hungry people then for the sake of your health it could be better to call in outside caterers. Consider, also, the occasion and act accordingly. For instance, a weeding might well need a more professional approach than a family get together.

If going on the outside caterer route it's a good idea to pick your favorite restaurant as they may offering their catering services. If you have many favorites then picking one might be quite hard. It them all comes down to the type of food they're going to serve. If they need to cater for a large audience then the old favorites like baby back ribs and beef brisket could sway you.

If you've decided on a caterer then the next step is to ascertain the level of service you require from them. Some have options that cater to your needs, meaning they'll assist you as much or as little as you want. For instance, if you have a large number of people to cook for then you might be better off going for a service that not only delivers and cooks, but one that will set-up the food, serve it and clean up after themselves.

There's no escaping the effect that money has on your options. Your budget makes a huge difference in what you feed your guests. For instance, for around $6 a head you can have meat and two sides, whereas for around $20 you might be able to give them a choice of various meats, various sides, dessert and even vegetables.

People that decide to do their own cooking need to understand that having the right equipment is important. The type of grill you have does effect the flavor of the meat. Try to choose a grill that has a smoker box, one of those lids that you can close so the meat can get the benefit of the smoke. This will enhance the flavor of the meat.

Before using the grill, make sure it's seasoned properly. Put cooking oil on a paper towel and rub it into the grill. Meat will not stick to the grill and it'll help maintain the equipment. One thing you should do is choose good quality meat. Pork should be lean with light pink flesh and ribs and shoulder cuts are usually the best part.

Whether you decide to go down the do it yourself road or have outside people come in, barbeque catering can be fun and tasty. Bear in mind how many people are going to be eating and what the occasion is and plan accordingly.
