Environmental Harms In Producing Moroccan Olive Oil

Olive is an ingredient used for your ever favorite pizza and pasta. When you come to think about the exporters of it, you may guess of Greece or Spain. But now, there is a booming country in which supplies the whole world with Moroccan olive oil. And since olives processing is one of their main products, this have cause environmental changes into the Moroccan society. This is due either agricultural or processing aspects.

Doctors are already convince with the nutritional value brought by the olives. It is considered monounsaturated and this means that once taken, it will not stay in our body unlike the other fats that will stay and can even develop as cancer. And doctors suggest this oil for food.

This is also one of the reason why the export demands are getting higher. Because of the health benefits the olives posses. Morocco has already a responsibility to the world market in which they have to supply the whole world with their product. But in the near future, the country can no more do such because of the risks they have took.

The said country had been doing this for years already and ever since the beginning of their civilization, olives are already their principal source of income. It is also said the the country had an active advocacy of planting such type of tree which lead them to economical stability. This have even been defeated Greece as the second largest exporter.

However, this financial development has attached ecological problems which cannot be anymore healed unless the government decides to shut down the business. The pollution is getting worse there due to the wastes from olive processing plants which caused atmospheric damages such us ozone depletion and improper hazardous waste disposal.

Though factories have big responsibilities when it comes to ecological issues, agriculture has also something to do with this problem. The chances of desertification of the country is getting higher and higher. As their exporting business is getting improved the soil credibility is getting lower. There is no more biological productivity due to continuous olive tree planting in which the soil cannot be able to get any other nutrients from another plants anymore.

These problems will just increase for the government maintains their support to the export. With this, we can say that the community might already be aware but they do not have the choice for this is their source of income. This is why it is crucial for them to find solution for this problem.

This is to say that you should be aware of what you are consuming because you might be wasting something which is a gold to anyone. Evidences of such theory have not yet been proven but few years from now, it is said that they will feel the effect of it. Once this will grow and grow, everything including the world market will be affected.

Moroccan olive oil may not yet be considered as extinct today. But if the suppliers will continue to grow olives without any proper soil treatment and waste management, then is afraid that the supply will be in endangered. And so we can still help them by simply not wasting it.
