Tips Straight From The Fountain Of Youth

By Mary Patmoore

Nobody can beat the effects of getting older. Everybody will soon have to face the general visual and physical problems that come with the aging process. All a person can do is focus on ways to slow down the process and keep feeling and looking as young and as healthy as we are able to. There is no time like the present for figuring out how to protect yourself from the less-inevitable effects of aging; taking a look at the ideas below can be a great place to start.

Put less emphasis on the little things. You pay doctors good money to worry about things like your age, height and weight. Dwelling on age, weight and looks can make you miss out on important events and opportunities.

Your brain is an important muscle that ought to be exercised. Learn something new; you are never to old to take up a new hobby or interest. Older people are wiser, so you should work on furthering your intelligence as you grow. Taking college courses and doing crossword puzzles are a couple of examples of things you can do to stimulate your mind.

One of the keys to successful aging is to always be willing to learn new things. Knowledge is a great way to keep yourself young.

Gradually increase the time and effort you dedicate to your exercise regimen. You actually need more activity as you age, in order to maintain your capacities. A thirty-minute walk is very good for you, especially if you maintain a fast pace and manage to go walking five days a week.

You should also do strength training a few times per week. This will keep your body in shape and will help stave off some of the physical effects of getting older.

Friendships are important because they help your life gain more love and energy, which are good for your emotions and are positive.

Do not think you are too old to find new friends. Get out in the world and make new friends. Love and friendship are the best ways to improve the quality of your life.

Do not fall. Many injuries and even deaths among older people are caused by falls. Try walking at least three times a week for thirty minutes. For good bone health, make sure to take a calcium supplement and consider weight training.

It's never too soon to start planning to be healthy in your senior years. Age is not a reason to feel or look anything other than your best.
