How to play golf

By Jake Smith

Becoming a golfer can seem like a daunting step to take, especially since there seems to be numerous rules and techniques that come with this sport. The truth is, even if there is a lot to learn about golf, this sport is very rewarding once you start learning the basics of the game. Developing your fundamental skills and techniques does take a good deal of practice and determination. Thankfully, the guide below can make your learning journey a successful one.

Your Clubs

While you are leaning to play golf it doesnt matter what golf clubs you use. Its more important that you are learning with clubs you are comfortable with.

Professional golfers are allowed to carry up to fourteen clubs in their bags. However, when you are first learning, you will not need to buy that many clubs. You only need a few clubs to start off with. Once you start improving your skills and developing your talent, then you can try out other golf clubs. Nevertheless, when you first start off, you should start with the basic clubs, which are the putter, driver, and sand wedge.

Test out many different types of golf clubs before buying your own. Also play a few rounds of golf to test out the different types of clubs. Also remember that clubs with the most loft or angle will probably give you the best accuracy even though you may not get as much distance. It is always good to be aware of this. Some of the most difficult clubs are usually the driver and the irons with the least loft (irons 1 - 4)

Balls

You are probably going to loose many golf balls as a beginner. Golf balls can be very expensive so we advise that you buy cheaper balls or use cheaper balls on holes that have a higher risk such as one with water hazards. Brand names don't matter too much but this is up to your personal preference.
