Early planning and preparedness is very significant because emergency situation, natural or synthetic disasters and calamities can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone. A lot of people is not aware regarding the importance of starting to prepare and plan for the possibility of any disaster, calamity or emergency to happen, but it is a vital information that could help to increase an individual's chance of survival if ever these things will happen. The first thing that can be done in order to increase you and your family's chance of survival from these calamities and disaster is to have and emergency food storage and here are some factors that should be considered when panning your own survival food storage:

-When making a list of foods that you need to store for survival, make sure to include foods that are well-balanced, easy to store and easy to prepare foods, nutritious and foods that has long shelf life. Storing foods that that are rich in proteins, quality fats, carbohydrates and vitamins and minerals are highly-recommended. During situations that a disaster or calamity just happened, these kinds of foods will help you and your family have the nutrients needed for survival.

-Aside from nutritious foods, the body needs water to survive. Thus, it is important to make sure that water is included in your list of your emergency food storage. You can't rely on your normal water supply because during situations wherein a disaster r calamity happens, there is a big possibility of insufficient water and food supply so you need to store ample supply of water for you and your family.

-A cool, dry place which is also free from rodents and other insects is a recommended place for you to store your emergency food storage. You can look for a place in your house that you can use for this purpose.

-Checking your emergency food stored from time to time is recommended. This way, you will be able to dispose those that are already expired and replace it with new ones. Checking your emergency food stored every 4-6 months is recommended.

Here are some of the foods that you should include in your food list for survival:

-One of the recommended foods to be included in your emergency survival food storage is peanut butter. Aside from being rich in protein, calories, carbohydrates and fats, it also lasts long, is easy to prepare and easy to store.

-Canned goods like sardines, pasta, canned meats, canned beans and tuna. These foods are easy to store and usually has long shelf life. Also they contain considerable amounts of nutrition that can help you and your family sustain through any disaster and calamity. Aside from that, most canned goods are ready to eat and are easy to prepare which is very important during disasters and calamities.

-Another kind of food recommended to be included in your list of survival food storage are rice and oatmeal. Aside from being a good source of carbohydrates an vitamins which are essential to the body, they are also easy to prepare and store.

-Noodles, pasta and cereals, also known as dehydrated goods, have a good shelf life and are inexpensive making them an ideal food to be included in your list of emergency food storage.

-As earlier mentioned, water should be among your list of foods to prepare for emergency food storage. This is because the body needs water in order to survive.

During emergency like calamities and disasters, there is huge possibility that food and water supply will be insufficient. So in order for you to survive, one should be prepared and be ready at all times.
