Great Gear All Athletes Can Use

By Nolan Berrie

There are so many gimmick exercise items and equipment out there that it is tough to wade through all the products and truly decide what you need. Here are a few items that are worth the investment.

Your athletic footwear is sure to be one of the most important purchases you will make. Friends will recommend their favorite brands, but it is really best to find the shoe that is best for your foot. Once you find the perfect shoe, one that offers support and comfort, get a second pair so you can alternate which pair you use each day. This will make both pairs last longer and allow the recently used pair a chance to air out.

When it comes to clothes, you want items that fit well and are comfortable. Most athletic clothes are built for comfort and to allow air to circulate. For women, perhaps the most important item that is necessary is a good sports bra, one that is comfortable even when you sweat and that offers proper support. Athletic clothes are pricey, so try to find them on sale. Wash them in cold water and don't dry them all the way; do a quick five-minute dry and then hang them up. This will keep them in good shape and help them last longer.

Exercise is one of the best things we can do for our body, but it does sometime mean we have aches and pains. If you want to keep participating in your favorite sport or continue working out, consider using a physiological hybrid shape, such as the one designed by RapidForce, to help you reduce the discomfort.

These physiological hybrid shapes are designed to allow easy, free movement even when muscles are sore. The shapes are adhesive, and you simply place the center of the support on the sore muscle area, and the surrounding parts of the shape draw strength from nearby muscle groups. They stick on with a medical-grade adhesive, so you won't have to worry about them falling off during your workout.

There are many fun and helpful items that are available out there that are worth some thought, as well. An MP3 player is an excellent item to have, as you can enjoy music or audiobooks. Just make sure you purchase good headphones that will stay on during a workout. Another good option, especially if you are hiking, walking or running is a multi-function sports watch that tells time, as well as having timers or a stopwatch and perhaps a distance or step calculator.
