The Rock's Cardio & Possible Improvement With Adventure Racing

By Rob Sutter

The WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event had taught me a number of things. It showed me just how violent wrestling could be and what kinds of lengths people would go to if it meant that they would secure a win. The Rock was arguably the most notable name that has worked the event but I'd be lying if I said that he hasn't performed better. It's clear that he became tired quite easily and I think his stamina problems could be helped with adventure racing.

The Rock hasn't always become tired during his matches, if you could believe it. When he was at the top of his game, he moved around pretty fast for a six foot five inch tall man. He utilized quicker maneuvers in comparison to a good number of his opponents who seemed to be more inclined to showcase strength above anything else. The Rock appeared to emulate the strength game, though, and I can't help but think that his wrestling style was worsened for it.

The Rock and CM Punk worked together at the Elimination Chamber event and the pace was, to say the least, slow. I don't think that it had to be that way but it was clear that the Rock tired easily, meaning that Punk had to utilize one too many rest holds. I'm all for utilizing said holds if it means that the match can stop being so frantic and allow people to catch their breath. However, the match was already pretty tame as it stood, so it didn't have to slow down to any more of a crawl.

The Rock has to defend his WWE Title against John Cena and I think that some changes have to be seen. Who's to say that he couldn't make use of adventure racing in order to ensure that he has the right level of cardio going into the main event on that night? Entities the likes of Spartan Race will cite the importance of conditioning, which is what the Rock needs in large amounts. It's not going to come easily, though, and it's going to be felt during these particular exercises.

While I love wrestling with every ounce of my being, I can't support paying for a show that doesn't want to deliver. Pay-per-view events are supposed to have much more value than TV shows, which is where the higher price comes from, but it seems like the prices are never worth it. The content is not what people want in their shows and it almost seems like a waste of money. The Rock needs to make people feel like their money is well-spent, so he has to get in gear soon.
