The Facts And Fictions About Navicular Pain

By Olivia Cross

The sharp pains in your lower part of the leg, what could it be? Perhaps its an in jury perhaps its a swelling well perhaps its a navicular pain. Many a time we experience a pain in our legs not really knowing the exact cause of it, when we try to self diagnose we rarely see the cause. In this instance upon visiting a specialist we are diagnosed with it. Upon diagnosis we then ask ourselves what is this condition, what causes it, what are its symptoms, myths, cure and its preventions

In some occasions the condition is caused by a slight crack of a fracture in the bone that is connected to the navicular bone. This bone due to its connections to the muscles in the navicular systems upon the expansion and its contraction causes the bone to move and upon its movement it makes it to send a sharp twitch to the brain through the nervous system which is in turn translated to us as a navicular pains.

Some individuals though a small percentage are endowed with an extra bone in their foot or at times its a cartilage. This also known as naviculum vitae, Its located in the lower foot just above the arch. Out of this group of people some suffer severe pains due to extra bone in their feet. The painfulness in their feet is caused by the aggravation of the extra bone due to various conditions.

The day to day activities at times come be taken for granted like walking and the daily jogging as a regular exercise, but to some this is a total discomforting situation for them since whenever they engage in any of these activities they have to experience the painings of this condition which tends to bar them from such an activity, because they know too well that engaging in this may even lead to breakage of their bone apart from the painful sensation.

A huge percentile of the people who suffer the illness know too well that the pains are brought about by the fact that the have to adore shoes. This in itself is an aggravation to the extra cartilage or tendon which causes the pain to occur.

The association between weak bones and it being the causative agent for this ailment is a disputed myth, this is because the weak bones have in no relation to the cause of painful sensation as long as they function normally.

One of the facts about this illness is the truth that an increase in weight has a direct impact on the level of pain experienced. This is because the weight increased will lead to a direct strain on the tendons affected and if the source of the pain was a slightly fractured bone the situation may even worsen which may in turn lead to the complete breaking of damaged bone.

Many people have a misconception that thorns and pricks are one of the causes of the pains. This may not be particularly true since the body has its own self defense mechanism to block the pain, it rarely occurs that a thorn or prick can pass through the skin to reach the soft tissue, and the body also deposits dead cells around the thorn to prevent the nervous system from transmitting pain alerts
