Ranking The Qualities For An Obstacle Event

By Rob Sutter

For those of you who are intrigued by the prospect of an obstacle event, I think that it's worth keeping a couple of ideas in particular in mind. These are the ones which will be able to provide the best results for you, whether or not you may have had them in mind starting off. Just how important all of these steps, though? There are some which are worth noting more than others but it's clear that these qualities deserve to be ranked. Here is where they fall, in my mind.

3. You have to make sure that physical prowess is kept at a good level. It's apparent that those who are toned have a better chance of winning in a physical event, which is why so much is done in terms of training. However, if you're looking to make the most out of a competition, you are going to have to keep other features in mind. This one is important but it's a bit lower on the list compared to others which are worth referring to.

2. Overall awareness is going to be needed if you're going to compete at a high level. The reason that I say this is because speed alone is not going to be able to assist you, at least not in terms of performing to the best of your ability. If you're going to operate on the playing field in some way, chances are that you're going to have to understand what your surroundings entail. If you manage to do this well, then you will thank yourself for remaining aware.

1. More than anything else, confidence may be the game changer, whether you realize it or not. All you have to do is focus on the kinds of attitudes you'll find in competitions like Spartan Race and you will see just how much matters are changed for the better. An obstacle event may prove to be one of the best events to get into but you have to want it. You're going to have to work up the attitude needed to move forward, no matter what potential dangers may rest ahead.

If you think that ranking different concepts of an obstacle event is going to be different from one person to the next, you would not be wrong on the matter. In fact, I think that everyone is going to have their own opinions as far as this goes. Does physicality matter to some competitors more than anything which may be considered cognitive, for example? It truly depends on who is competing but it's clear that such ideas matter, whether individuals may be aware of their varying levels of importance or not.
