It is hard to imagine life without the presence of plants. These wonderful creations have aided man for hundreds of years. You need them to make food, medicine, clothing, bags, and all sorts of stuff. One of the plants that people from all over the world are using would be those dried bay leaves.

One of the reasons why there are plants that are dried is that it is the only way that they can be preserved. Drying actually helps plants like the California bay leaf to still be very useful after many years. It is a method people have used so they can preserve their supplies especially their spices.

Another reason for drying herbs and spices is that this is a good way that you make them more flavorful. There are some plants that taste better when you will hang them to dry. This will help bring out stronger flavors. Aside from these leaves, this also applies to plants used for tea and spices like rosemary and thyme.

Bay leaves are plants that can be found in almost every kitchen all over the world. Many cooks depend on it whenever they will cook something. Once used for cooking, the dish will have a very tempting smell and will taste very savory. It is used for cooking pastas, slow cooking meals, and steamed dishes.

When you will use this for cooking, always remember that this should not be served on the table. Do not forget to fish this out of the pan after the food has been cooked. No matter how aromatic it may be, it will not taste nice if you will accidentally eat it.

You can also use such plants as some sort of home decor. Turning it into a decoration is a smart way to deal with the leaf that was discarded while you were cooking. You can turn it into bay leaf wreaths that you can hang anywhere in your home. It is a cool decor if you are looking for something rustic.

This kind of plant is also valued for its medicinal property. This is a natural remedy you can use for abdominal cramps and some digestive problems. It can be used as a sedative, diuretic, and diaphoretic.

Dried bay leaves should always be found in ones kitchen. Having them is very practical because of their usefulness. It is something that you can always store since you do not have to worry that it will rot, whither, or become spoiled the longer that you place it in its storage.
