Muzzle Brakes Make Gun Shots A Lot Gentler

By Kayla N. Lueilwitz

It's not enjoyable when a gun recoils into the shooter's shoulder or eye socket, but muzzle brakes can lessen that by softening the impact. Muzzle breaks are defined as being permanent devices fitted to a gun, or ones that can be attached to the tip of the gun to broadcast propellant gases in multiple directions to prevent recoil and reduce any rising of the barrel. This provides for a friendlier shoot that is preferred by many females and enables more accuracy in hitting a target.

Some competitions permit the use of these and are described in Wikipedia as, "The force generated at the muzzle brake baffles or ejector ports acts in the opposite direction to the force of recoil, thus reducing wear on the recoil-damping mechanism and allowing a lighter design." Muzzle brakes often have a variety of names such as recoil brake, recoil check, recoil compensator and Mag-na-port and they obey one of Newton's laws of motion: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction; or for brake muzzles, the exhaust directed upward causes a reciprocal force downward.

By using these, recoil can be reduced from 10 to fifty per cent, or even higher. Not only is shooting less painful, but accuracy of hitting the target increases with less barrel rise. On the negative side, muzzle brakes do give a more noticeable auditory sensation to the shooter and bystanders, and a greater exposure to lead as sound and gases are directed sideways and backwards. Although careful shooters know to wear eye and ear protection, they still may not be sufficient to stop permanent ear damage, and in some countries are banned due to this health hazard.

We have a variety of muzzle brakes and we invite you to visit our website where you can order these devices permanently attached to any firearm we sell, or as an add-on threaded component. Our business is built on providing complete satisfaction to our clients, and our products provide the accuracy that marksmen and sportsmen demand in their firearms. In fact, a number of our tactical rifles come provided with muzzle breaks.

In the United States, exercise your right to have arms and equip yourself with our products that you can depend on for reliability and accuracy, enhanced with the use of surefire muzzle brake.
