Would Reality TV Convey the Importance of a Food Lovers Diet?

By Rob Sutter

I'm almost ashamed to admit it but a good part of me actually likes reality TV. Despite it being quite possibly the lowest form of entertainment you can think of, I believe that's where a good amount of the entertainment comes from. Like a car or train accident, it's a hard sight to watch but somehow you can't turn away from it all. It's made even more difficult when I see that these people seem to abuse their bodies with food and maybe a food lovers diet should be in the cards.

The idea of a food lovers diet shouldn't be unattractive to anyone. This is mostly because the prospect to eat as much substantial food as you like doesn't sound pretty terrible. This is heightened more so when you consider that companies like Quorn endorse healthful diets, many of which don't utilize meat, and meals to accompany them. It's one of this diets that I wish could have translated well to the world of reality television because many supposed celebrities could use them.

If you pride yourself on being a reality TV viewer, especially during 2007 or so, there's a good chance that New York had come across your radar. This woman could have typically been seen on VH1, yelling at other girls in a catty manner and even scrapping with some of the men who were trying to win her heart. Despite her popularity, I couldn't help but notice her inclination to smoke constantly and eat disgusting food without any stop in sight. She had a slender figure but sometimes looks don't account for everything.

For something that's a bit more modern in comparison, look no further than Honey Boo Boo and her family led by Mama June. This cast of characters first showed up on "Toddlers & Tiaras" and the family has long since become more popular than anyone could have imagined. I'd be remiss if I forgot to mention just how poorly the family sustains itself. Alana Thompson, or Honey Boo Boo, is fed what is called "Go Go Juice", a blend of Mountain Dew and Red Bull. One can already detect the issues, I'm sure.

The "Go Go Juice" in question assumedly has about the same level of caffeine as two cups of coffee, which Alana drinks. If you ask me, no child should have an energy drink under any given circumstance. This is an example of these TV families being unable to take care of themselves despite the fact that the public constantly watches them without fail. If they want to give off a better image to the public, why not start by undertaking a food lovers diet?
